Cloverfield
Well i must say i loved the movie!!! I personally have issues with that theme… i used to have nightmares with monsters when i was a little boy… i rememeber seeing giant shadows in the window late at night, monsters stalking my school and me hiding beneath my table, and awake by day palm trees were like giant tarantulas to me,… and as i grow older, and watched more and more monster films, they were faker and faker, but seeing this, alone, quiet, not much people in the theatre, and the cool digital effects and the reaction of the characters, the relationships and the desperating perspective and camera angles…. i must say, the monster is only a variable in the movie.
The thing that most surprised me was the reaction of the people in the theatre. Commonly you espect some “OOOHHS” and “AAAAHS” but not here,. there was ABSOLUTE silence. even after the movie ended.
the only commentaries i heard was “fuck, man” when i was on my way out to the street… that pretty ressumes all.
